What's the clical song that sounds like the theme from American Tail?

It's somewhat reminiscent of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata in that it's very quiet, paced, and played on piano, but its theme sounds almost exactly like "Somewhere, out there, beneath the pale moonlight, someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight," from Fievel in the cartoon movie, An American Tail.
