Why on earth does my shockwave flash player keep crashing?

Every time I try to stream live video or audio, my browsers flash player crashes with a message saying "shockwave has crashed", does anyone know why this is?, i never had this problem with my old desktop (I'm on an advent 5302 laptop at the moment)
