Why did my guy friend do this?

a few of us were playing table tennis, and i was really bad at it, and my guy friend comes up and does the 'reach around' me to show me how to play..i was actually a bit taken aback. i'm pretty sure he doesn't like me in that way., so is it usual for guys do that to their female friends in the platonic sense?
