Why are the two sides of the Moon so geologically different?

I'm relying on information that is more than 10 years old. When the moon's core was still liquid, it was pulled off the geometrical center of the sphere of the moon by Earth's gravity. That means that when large objects impacted the moon on the near-side, the magma from the mantle and/or core of the moon had less distance to rise through, so it was easier for maria to form. See if you can get ahold of the Lunar and Planetary Science conference proceedings that were published in the Journal of Geophysical Research Solid Earth in 1993, 1994, and 1995. I'm not sure which year the articles I read were published
